Stockholm Travel Guide

Sweden's beautiful capital has a picturesque setting that makes the city unique. The difference between seasons is quite large, the summers green with mild nights, and the winters dark, cold, rainy, sometimes snowy, and with millions of Christmas candles in the windows.

About Stockholm

Stockholm covers an area of 120 square Km and is estimated to have a population of 1.3 million people being the capital and the largest city of Sweden. It is the site of the national Swedish government, the parliament, and the official residence of the Swedish monarch.

Gamla Stan (The Old Town): Open Air Shopping Center

s4.jpgThe old town is full of small boutiques, where you can do all kind of shopping. Only on Sunday morning it is completely quiet and looks to be from some other planet. On afternoon it begins to live, but still many shops are closed, like on Saturday evening, too.

There are many antique shops. My favourite is the shop of old toys. The old dolls are so attractive and sensible.
